The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Hub for Him was created in 2008 by Agustin Davila. Its composition begins with bergamot, lemon, grapefruit, mandarin orange, lavender, and labdanum, creating a bright, aromatic opening with enough resinous depth to temper the citrus. As those notes soften, jasmine, lily of the valley, iris, rose, pear, nutmeg, pink pepper, cardamom, cloves, and aquatic notes build a textured floral and spicy heart. The fragrance closes on cedar, patchouli, guaiac wood, amber, sandalwood, leather, and musk, combining dry woods, warm leather, and soft musk in the drydown. The name suggests a meeting point, while the note structure tells the story through its movement from fresh brightness to a warm, woody base.
The composition makes its tension easy to spot. Citrus and lavender bring an airy, aromatic opening, while labdanum adds warmth underneath that brightness. Jasmine, iris, rose, and lily of the valley make the heart floral and polished, but spice, aquatic notes, and pear stop it from becoming too neat. Down below, leather and woods give the drydown a firmer backbone, while amber and musk soften the finish.
The evolution
Hub for Him starts with brisk, familiar brightness. Bergamot, lemon, grapefruit, mandarin orange, and lavender move quickly, with labdanum adding a resinous weight that keeps the opening from feeling completely weightless. As the citrus softens, jasmine, lily of the valley, iris, and rose bring a more graceful floral middle. Nutmeg, pink pepper, cardamom, and cloves add warmth and texture, while pear and aquatic notes lend a fresh, lightly mineral quality. The drydown changes the register again: cedar, patchouli, guaiac wood, sandalwood, leather, amber, and musk settle into a warm woody base. Together, the notes move from polished brightness toward close-fitting warmth, leaving a softer musky trace as the fragrance develops on skin.
Cultural impact
Hub for Him can be understood through its fragrance composition: citrus and lavender establish brightness, floral notes bring a graceful center, and cedar, patchouli, guaiac wood, sandalwood, leather, amber, and musk create a warm woody drydown. Spices and aquatic notes add further texture, making the scent appealing to explore through its changing layers rather than a single dominant impression. Its structure offers a clear path from fresh opening notes to a softer, more enveloping finish.
The House
Agustin DavilaAgustin Davila is a niche fragrance house that debuted with a small, focused collection in the late 2000s. The brand released its signature duo, Agustin Davila for Men and Agustin Davila for Women, in 2007, followed by Hub in 2008. With a catalog of just four fragrances, the house has maintained a deliberately limited output, appealing to collectors who value quiet exclusivity over volume. Its scents span fresh aromatic cologne territory and softer, more contemplative compositions, suggesting a creative range that resists easy categorization.
The Creator
Nejla BarbirBarbir favors a structured approach, building compositions layer by layer. She often starts with a clear mineral or aromatic anchor, then weaves in floral or resinous heart notes that add depth.
