The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Love Diamonds Love arrived in February 2015, timed for Valentine's Day. It joined the Love Love Love collection, the original launched in 2011, flanked by Love Summer Love and Love Forever Love in 2013, Love Glam Love in 2014. The naming convention says everything: Agatha Ruiz de la Prada does not do restraint. Love Diamonds Love was conceived as the glamorous, chic, fun entry in the lineup, the one that pops. The brief was celebration with warmth, sparkle without shallowness. What arrived delivers exactly that: a fragrance that announces itself with bubbles and finishes with something that stays.
The pairing of champagne and pear is harder to execute than it sounds. Champagne notes can go flat, synthetic, like fizzy candy. Here, the bergamot and lemon anchor the effervescence, keeping it bright rather than sugary. The raspberry adds a tartness that prevents the whole thing from reading as dessert. What emerges is closer to the first sip of a good vintage than a novelty accord. The florals, peony, rose, orange blossom, don't arrive to soften a weak composition. They arrive because a Love fragrance without rose is unthinkable, and peony gives the heart a lushness that rose alone can't carry.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately: champagne bubbles, citrus brightness, a quick burst of raspberry. This phase lasts roughly 20 to 30 minutes before the florals begin to assert themselves. The heart, peony leading, rose and orange blossom in support, takes over around the one-hour mark. This is the fragrance's most wearable phase: warm, feminine, present without projecting. The base arrives quietly around hour two. Amber and benzoin provide warmth; patchouli adds a dry, earthy counterweight that stops the composition from going entirely soft. By hour four, what remains is skin-warm and close, present enough to be noticed by someone leaning in, gone enough that you're not announcing yourself to the next room. On fabric, the drydown extends further.
Cultural impact
The Love Love Love collection positions itself within the Spanish beauty landscape as an accessible luxury with personality. Love Diamonds Love targets the woman who wants warmth and celebration in one bottle, someone who finds power in femininity rather than despite it. It sits alongside other fruity-florals from the house, distinguished by its champagne lift and its willingness to commit to sweetness.
