The beginning
Fresh Blossom arrived in 2009 as a flanker to Donna Karan's flagship Be Delicious. Where the original leaned into the crisp snap of green apple, this version shifts into a softer, more floral register, trading that orchard sharpness for the bloom that follows it on the tree. Released as an Eau de Parfum in collaboration with Estée Lauder Companies, it built on a core idea: a fragrance should feel like something a woman would choose to wear on purpose, not something applied and forgotten. The juice sits in the round bottle that became the line's signature, but the liquid inside is something quieter, warmer, less about the city and more about the first hour after the rain.
What's interesting about Fresh Blossom is what it left behind. The original Be Delicious leans green and tart, almost architectural in how it stacks fruit over flower over wood. Fresh Blossom traded that structure for something rounder, pulling away from the apple skin and reaching instead for apricot flesh and grapefruit zest, softening the rose with muguet and wrapping the jasmine in a warmer base. The woody notes underneath stop the whole composition from dissolving into pure sugar, and the cashmere touch in the drydown gives it a softness that feels like skin rather than fabric.
The evolution
The first twenty minutes are all fruit, grapefruit cutting through apricot's softer warmth with blackcurrant lending a cool, leafy edge. Then the florals arrive, and they don't tiptoe. Jasmine pushes forward first, dense and slightly creamy, before the rose settles in with muguet's cooler, greener breath. The drydown is where Fresh Blossom earns its name. Red apple surfaces underneath, a wink back to the parent scent, sitting above a wood base that's soft rather than smoky, with a cashmere haze that wraps everything in something almost tactile. As the hours pass, the fruit recedes and the woods come forward, leaving a skin-close warmth that still carries a trace of that floral heart.
