The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Look Kool arrives as the next chapter in the Look collection, extending a fragrance universe that began with a single premise: the priority is to always be yourself. Agatha Ruiz de la Prada built Look around confidence, personality, and the willingness to attract attention. Look Kool takes that foundation and pushes further, cooler, more dynamic, with an edge that leans into rebellion rather than politeness. Benoist Lapouza, the Givaudan perfumer behind the original Look, returned to push the composition in a more energetic direction. The brief wasn't subtlety. It was radiance, the kind that turns heads not through volume, but through sheer refusal to blend in.
What makes Look Kool's structure work is the timing of its gourmand heart. Praline and vanilla typically arrive late, the payoff, the drydown reward. Here, Benoist Lapouza pulled them forward, threading them through the heart alongside jasmine and peony. The result: a white floral that's already creamy before the florals fully arrive. Jasmine adds its characteristic waxy depth while peony handles the lift and the lushness, but neither dominates, both serve the praline's sweetness and the vanilla's warmth. It's a fruity-floral-gourmand that refuses to be one thing at a time.
The evolution
The opening is immediate. Bergamot, bitter orange, a bright squeeze of lemon, the kind of citrus that doesn't wait for you to apply it. Then peach rounds everything out, sweet and ripe, softening the citrus without diluting it. The day hasn't started yet. Neither has the performance anxiety. The blackcurrant arrives next, adding a tart pull against all that sweetness, a slight counterweight that keeps the composition from floating away. Then the florals take over. Peony leads, jasmine follows, and the heart becomes lush and full and unmistakably feminine. The vanilla and praline don't wait for the drydown to announce themselves, they arrive in the heart, already wrapping around the florals, making the white petals creamier than they have any right to be. By the time the drydown arrives, the fragrance has already established its personality. Cedar appears last, quiet and grounding, holding the sweetness in place rather than transforming it. Hours later, a trace of praline still clings, intimate, sweet, and close. Not loud anymore. Just there.
Cultural impact
Look Kool targets a specific kind of wearer: full of vitality, energy, and a point of rebellion. The brand describes its audience as fun, daring, and always in fashion, but above all, cool. The 2023 launch extends the Look universe into more dynamic territory, offering a scent that matches that daring spirit, with a vibrant, youthful energy that lingers on the skin.
