The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
In 2008, Tendre Jasmin joined Yves Rocher's Secrets d'Essences collection, where each fragrance reveals different facets of a single botanical. For Tendre Jasmin, that botanical was jasmine, explored through three stages of evolution. The collection presents single-botanical studies, allowing one material to speak in different voices across a single composition. The result was a jasmine that breathes, something softer than the varieties that announce themselves loudly, designed to reveal how the flower can become tender when observed closely across its progression.
The composition presents a structural logic built around jasmine as its core material. Citrus and mandarin lift the opening, bringing brightness and immediate freshness. Orange blossom rounds the middle phase, adding softness and dimension. Mimosa absolute settles quietly below, grounding the fragrance without heaviness. The result reads less like a fragrance with distinct tiers and more like a single flower observed over time, with each layer emerging naturally from the one before.
The evolution
The opening is citrus-bright. Mandarin and lemon arrive together, sharp and clean, with jasmine already threading through from the start, not waiting to be discovered. As the composition develops, the citrus softens and the orange blossom absolute takes over, what was crisp becomes rounded and warm. The jasmine heart doesn't arrive so much as settle, gentle and present throughout the mid-phase. In the final act, mimosa absolute emerges, soft and slightly sweet, lifting what could have been a heavy base into something airy and lingering on the skin. The fragrance evolves from bright to soft to intimate, each transition smooth and natural. Throughout the wear, the jasmine remains present but never overwhelming, allowing the supporting notes to create a layered experience that feels both fresh and comforting.
Cultural impact
Tendre Jasmin offers tender jasmine for everyday wear, avoiding the theatricality of night florals or the heaviness sometimes associated with oriental jasmine. It presents a quieter approach to the botanical, one that feels present without announcing itself. Wearers find it suits those who want a floral that reads as fresh and subtle rather than bold or commanding. This positions the fragrance as an accessible entry point into the Secrets d'Essences collection, offering the house's signature botanical focus in a way that feels approachable for regular use.
