The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
When Alexandra Kosinski created My Land, she wasn't reaching for the usual masculine vocabulary. The name itself carries weight, land as identity, as origin, as the thing you return to. For Trussardi, a house built on leather, the reference point was always going to be Italian: the citrus groves, the warmth of a Mediterranean landscape, the idea that elegance speaks quietly. Kosinski built the opening around bergamot and green mandarin to make the fragrance immediately accessible, a bright, green citrus entrance that signals arrival before the real story begins. The bergamot brings its characteristic citrus brightness while the green mandarin adds a crisp, almost herbal freshness that immediately sets the tone.
What makes My Land unusual is how deliberately Kosinski threaded leather through the composition without letting it dominate. The house identity is present in every phase, but it's filtered through softness, cashmere wood rather than raw hide, tonka bean warmth rather than the blunt animalic power of traditional leather fragrances. Calone, the molecule known for its aquatic, sea-breeze character, appears in the heart to add a dimension that feels Mediterranean rather than masculine in the conventional sense.
The evolution
The opening hits fast. Green mandarin and bergamot surge in crisp and bright, the kind of citrus that feels like morning light touching stone, clean, sharp, Mediterranean. Within the first hour, the mandarin recedes and lavender moves forward, not aggressively, but with a steady calm that reframes the energy. The heart phase belongs to lavender, with violet adding a soft floral undertone and Calone bringing a faint marine lift, a hint of moisture that keeps the whole composition from drying out. The leather never announces itself. It arrives quietly as the lavender begins to fade, a soft, warm presence that settles against skin without scraping or biting. By the third hour, vetiver and cashmere wood have taken over the drydown, with tonka bean arriving last to sweeten the base without making it soft.
Cultural impact
Trussardi launched My Land in 2012, marking an important addition to the house's fragrance lineup. The Italian fashion house, known for its leather goods heritage, created this fragrance as part of its ongoing creative development. My Land features a blend of green mandarin and bergamot, notes that have long been associated with Italian perfumery. The scent draws on Mediterranean olfactory traditions, capturing elements of coastal living for those who appreciate Italian craftsmanship.
