The beginning
Via della Spiga, one of Milan most storied luxury shopping streets, runs between Corso Venezia and Piazza San Babila, a stretch of boutiques where fashion has always been a form of self-making. Trussardi, rooted in Milan since its beginnings as a glove workshop, designed this fragrance to capture the pleasure of beautiful things, the warmth of an afternoon well spent among polished storefronts. Perfumer Quentin Bisch worked with apple, bergamot, and honey to establish an opening that feels both crisp and inviting, immediately establishing the refined character of the street itself.
Trussardi approached Via della Spiga with restraint, allowing each material to assert itself without crowding the composition. Honey serves as the unifying thread, present from opening through drydown, its character shifting from fresh drizzle to deeper amber warmth. The floral heart pairs jasmine and rose within this honeyed context, while mahonial adds a contemporary edge that prevents the fragrance from feeling nostalgic. The drydown built from tonka, heliotrope, and musk creates the feeling of fine leather treated with powder, a nod to Trussardi heritage without literal glove accord.
The evolution
The opening bursts with apple and bergamot, their brightness softened almost immediately by a drizzle of honey. This honey deepens as the fragrance moves into the heart phase, becoming the medium through which jasmine and rose bloom. Mahonial introduces a cool, synthetic menthol-green quality that prevents the floral heart from becoming heavy. As the fragrance settles, tonka bean and heliotrope emerge to create a powdery warmth that melds with musk. Hawthorn adds a final structural note, a faint bitter undertone that keeps the finish from dissolving entirely into sweetness.
