The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fizzy Gin arrived in 2024 from The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression line, part of the Dua Designer Line collection. The nose behind this fragrance is Mahsam Raza, who treats this as a citrus aromatic built around a clear sense of structure. The reference point is Lubin's Gin Fizz, listed under similar scent profiles, an established composition built around juniper, iris, and the botanical snap of a proper cocktail. Raza's version takes that same skeleton and strips out the fuss, leaving a lighter, more contemporary reading that distills the original idea down to its essentials. It is positioned as a daytime fragrance for women, and the notes make that clear: citrus and green aromatics at the top, a white-floral heart, and a dry mossy base that keeps everything from floating away.
What makes this composition interesting is the tension between cocktail and perfume. Juniper berries in the top notes do double duty, they reference gin botanically while also serving as a perfumery material that adds a cool, slightly piney snap to the citrus. The way juniper and bergamot interact gives Fizzy Gin its characteristic opening bite, a sharp, almost tonic-like quality that reads as refreshing rather than sharp in an aggressive way. Iris and galbanum in the heart pull in opposite directions: iris brings powder, galbanum brings green bite.
The evolution
The opening of Fizzy Gin is sharp and immediate. Bergamot, Sicilian lemon, and Sicilian mandarin hit bright and clean, with galbanum threading through to add that crushed-leaf green note that keeps the citrus from collapsing into lemonade. Juniper sits just behind, cool and peppery, the botanical ghost of the cocktail reference. Together they create an accord that feels effervescent, almost sparkling on skin, the kind of opening that makes you pay attention rather than simply registering a pleasant citrus scent. As the composition moves into its middle phase, the white florals start to surface. Orange blossom and Turkish jasmine arrive with a dewy, slightly soapy sweetness, but they never fully take over, because iris is already dusting everything with its powdery, rooty texture. Rose absolute adds a soft red-fruit warmth that rounds the heart out.
Cultural impact
Fizzy Gin's closest scent match is the original Lubin Gin Fizz, and the Dua reading takes that established composition and reworks it into a lighter, more contemporary citrus aromatic. The fragrance is positioned for women and reads as a daytime composition, with a bright citrus opening, a white-floral heart, and a dry mossy base that keeps the whole thing grounded. It is the kind of scent that appeals to anyone who wants brightness and lift in a fragrance without sacrificing the kind of structure and depth that makes a composition feel considered rather than fleeting.
