Petkov structured Walaa as a traditional fougère, which means lavender and geranium anchor the opening, a classic pairing that dates back to the 19th century and carries an inherent cleanliness. But he didn't stop there. The addition of mandarin orange and bergamot gives the top a sharp, immediate brightness that prevents the lavender from reading as soapy or dated.
