The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
In 2017, Daniela Andrier returned to La Femme with a clear mandate: intensify without amplifying. Not louder. Deeper. The result rebuilds the composition around its heart, letting tuberose, ylang-ylang, and Jasmine Sambac carry the full weight of the scent's identity. These white florals unfurl with a creamy richness, their tropical warmth building until the scent reaches a saturation that feels opulent yet restrained. The tuberose takes command of the composition, its milky, heady character supported by the buttery smoothness of ylang-ylang, while Jasmine Sambac adds a darker, more indolic undertone that grounds the brightness. Together, these notes carry the full weight of the scent's identity, creating a floral heart that is impossible to ignore.
Patchouli anchors the base, its cool earthiness grounding the tropical sweetness that came before. Vanilla adds warmth that lingers, soft and enveloping. Iris contributes a quiet powdery elegance that smooths the transition from top to drydown. These three notes work together to create a foundation that feels complete, each element supporting the others in a base that offers both depth and sophistication.
The evolution
Frangipani arrives first, tropical, almost sticky-sweet, like plumeria petals left in sunlight. Within minutes, ylang-ylang joins and the duo takes on a creamy, sunlit warmth. Jasmine Sambac lifts the tuberose, orange blossom threads through, and the composition enters its richest phase. The drydown settles into patchouli's earthy coolness, vanilla's warmth, and a whisper of vetiver that keeps everything grounded. These layers build upon one another, the tropical opening giving way to a deep floral heart before the base notes emerge to create a fragrance that feels complete and resolved.
Cultural impact
La Femme Intense arrived in 2017 as a flanker to Prada's original La Femme. The composition builds upon its predecessor with a restructured tuberose heart, creating a richer, more unapologetic white floral. This version amplifies the presence of white florals while softening the sharper edges found in the original. La Femme Intense represents a significant evolution in the La Femme line, offering a deeper, more saturated take on the original concept.
