The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Prada's Infusion d'Iris line emerged from the house's ongoing exploration of orris, the precious powdered root that sits at the intersection of floral and woody. Daniela Andrier, tasked with reimagining this ingredient for a contemporary audience, stripped away excess to reveal iris in its most elemental form. Cèdre, added later, extended the line's vocabulary by introducing cedarwood's honest warmth to complement the orris powder.
The Infusion d'Iris line represents Prada's commitment to minimalism in perfumery, offering fragrances that prioritize presence over projection, subtlety over statement.
The evolution
The fragrance opens on skin with the soft, almost immediate presence of iris, no top note delay, no citrus preamble. Neroli provides a brief moment of brightness before cedarwood and incense arrive to establish the composition's character. As the fragrance develops over the first hour, incense becomes more pronounced, adding smoky dimension that elevates the otherwise restrained heart. Benzoin then emerges in the background, providing warmth that prevents the drydown from feeling austere. The final stage finds the fragrance at its most personal, with cedarwood and benzoin lingering close to the skin as a quiet signature.
Cultural impact
Since its 2015 release, the fragrance has become a quiet favorite among those who appreciate a powdery‑fresh iris anchored by cedar and incense, often cited in forums as a sophisticated unisex alternative to more overtly gourmand offerings. Its balanced profile places it alongside other modern classics that value subtlety over flash.
