The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Perito Moreno operates from Pune, India, where chemical-engineer-turned-perfumer Nitish Dixit approaches fragrance creation with systematic precision. Dixit designs each scent as a limited-run narrative, resisting the temptation to chase market trends. Silver Coast emerged from a simple observation: the quality of early morning light over open water, and how that moment contains both clarity and depth. Rather than replicating a literal coast, the perfume captures the sensation of that first illumination, bright, uncomplicated, yet layered with nuance. The brand's Indian roots surface in the material choices: the aromatic quality of angelica, the earthiness of vetiver and cypriol, the contemplative nature of oud and patchouli.
Nitish Dixit's philosophy centers on restraint and material honesty. Silver Coast demonstrates this in its approach to citrus: rather than a fleeting top-note burst, the opening develops with intentionality, letting galangal and ginger work alongside the brighter elements. The heart phase relies on angelica and carrot seed, materials often relegated to supporting roles, as the primary carriers of character. This decision reflects Dixit's preference for unexpected combinations over safe formulas. The drydown leans heavily into warm woods and resins, but the oud is used sparingly, adding complexity without dominating.
The evolution
The opening works in layers: bright citrus and a subtle sweetness from honey pomelo form the surface, while galangal, ginger, and cardamom provide a warm undercurrent that prevents the top notes from feeling sterile. Petitgrain adds an aromatic dimension that grounds the composition early. As the heart develops, angelica and carrot seed introduce a distinctly green, mineral quality that shifts the direction entirely. Orris root emerges as the bridge, its powdery, slightly waxy character softening the transition. By the time the drydown arrives, the perfume has completed its journey from light to warmth: amber and benzoin create resinous sweetness, woods like cedarwood, guaiac wood, and birch provide structure, while oud, cypriol, patchouli, and vetiver offer depth. Labdanum and musk ensure the final impression lingers close to the skin, intimate rather than loud.
Cultural impact
Since its 2025 debut, Silver Coast has sparked conversation on Indian fragrance forums and Reddit’s DesiFragranceAddicts, where users praise its bright yet grounded character. It’s often mentioned alongside the house’s Costal Kokan and Citrus & Yuzu as a signature coastal line, positioning it as a go‑to summer staple for those seeking understated elegance.
