A house, in its own words
Nitish Dixit founded Perito Moreno after years of work as a chemical engineer and independent perfumer. He set up a modest studio in Pune, India, where he could experiment without the constraints of large‑scale fragrance houses. Early interviews describe his desire to treat scent as a personal art, using small batches to maintain control over each ingredient. By 2023 the brand released its first widely discussed fragrance, King’s Empire, which signaled a move from private commissions to a public line. The following year, Perito Moreno introduced a series of scents—Regal Silhouette, Meditation Mist, Not Dark Yet and Culture—each tied to a specific mood or locale. In 2024 the house expanded its palette with Thumri, Citrus & Yuzu and Costal Kokan, showing a willingness to blend Indian attar traditions with contemporary olfactory structures. 2025 brought Elite and Vetiver Mystique, reinforcing the label’s reputation for releasing fresh, story‑driven compositions each season. Throughout this period the studio remained a hands‑on space; a walk‑through video posted in early 2024 let viewers see the glassware, weighing scales and wooden cabinets where the blends are assembled. The brand’s growth has been organic, driven by word‑of‑mouth among fragrance enthusiasts and coverage in niche blogs rather than large advertising campaigns. Perito Moreno continues to operate from its Pune workshop, where Dixit oversees every step from raw material selection to final bottling, preserving the intimate scale that defined its origin. Perito Moreno treats fragrance as a quiet dialogue between scent and memory. The house believes that a perfume should act like a meditation, allowing the wearer to travel inward or outward with each inhalation. This perspective stems from Dixit’s background in chemistry, which teaches him to respect the material properties of each oil, and from his appreciation for Indian cultural narratives that link aroma to ritual. The brand avoids generic claims of innovation; instead it focuses on concrete practices such as sourcing rare ingredients directly from growers in regions like Madagascar and the Western Ghats, then pairing them with synthetics that enhance stability. Perito Moreno values transparency, often sharing the story behind a note on its website or in video tours. The label also emphasizes sustainability, choosing recyclable glass for its bottles and limiting batch sizes to reduce waste. By framing each launch as a chapter in an ongoing story, the house encourages collectors to view its portfolio as a personal library rather than a fleeting trend.
