The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sasha Frolova is an artist whose work doesn't ask for permission. When Perfume.Sucks approached her about a collaboration, she had a clear directive: the fragrance had to be pinkish, latex-like, and unapologetic. Perfumer Andreas Wilhelm translated that vision into a composition that defies easy categorization. Strawberry and raspberry give it an unexpected sweetness, almost jammy, but suede and leather provide the structure. The indole and oud at the base add something animalic, something that lingers on skin like a secret. The formulas emerged from this collaboration and earned their place through sheer conviction rather than industry approval.
What makes this fragrance unusual is its tension. Fruity and leathery shouldn't coexist this easily, but here they do, with the strawberry and raspberry opening bright and tart, then ceding ground to suede and gardenia without ever fully disappearing. The rhubarb adds a slightly tart edge that keeps the sweetness from becoming confectionery. At the base, the indole, that sweaty skin accord, arrives quietly and asserts itself as the drydown deepens. Oud and vetiver give it weight. Oakmoss and patchouli add the earth. Honey ties it together.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and fruity, strawberry and raspberry over a citrussy shimmer of lemon and grapefruit. Pink pepper and black pepper add a slight prickly heat, while the grass note keeps it grounded, green and slightly sharp. Within minutes, the leather arrives. Not at the edges, at the center. Suede follows, then gardenia, rose, geranium. The rhubarb adds a tart edge that keeps the florals from going soft. Blackcurrant deepens the fruity heart. This is where the fragrance lives longest. The drydown is where it gets interesting. Leather and oud anchor the base, but the indole is the tell. That's the sweaty skin note, the one that makes this fragrance feel intimate and slightly confrontational at once. Honey sweetens it. Vetiver and patchouli add the earth. Oakmoss ties it to skin. When the final drydown arrives, the wait proves worthwhile. Honey and oud linger.
Cultural impact
The Perfume.Sucks x Sasha Frolova collaboration works because neither party relies on industry conventions. Frolova brought an artistic vision; Wilhelm translated it into a fragrance with real olfactory tension. That tension, sweet and confrontational, fruity and animalic, creates a scent that feels both playful and raw. The interplay of fruity sweetness against animalic depth gives this fragrance its distinctive edge.
