Why it exists.
The beginning
Londa 1006 is one of O'Driu's numbered series, launched in 2011 by Angelo Orazio Pregoni. It belongs to a cluster of releases from that early period when the perfumer, already a visual artist, was translating his studio instincts into scent without a roadmap or a market brief. The numbered titles, from the Laltrove series to the Linfedele and Londa editions, were almost archival in their numbering system. The Londa line in particular sits at the intersection of herbal sharpness and something rawer, harder to name. There is a feeling of contrast built into the construction, with green aromatic herbs meeting a saline pull and an animalic undertone that refuses to stay quiet. 1006 carries that tension forward.
What makes 1006's structure genuinely unusual is the placement of materials you don't usually see in the base. Bergamot and grapefruit, typically opening notes, anchor the drydown here, alongside magnolia and mimosa. The top burns with thyme, lavender, and marine notes, while the heart reads almost culinary, basil, sage, styrax, lemongrass, and myrrh pulling in different directions at once. The result is a fragrance that doesn't obey the conventional pyramid, where cooling and warming happen in the same breath, and what you smell three hours in is closer to the top than the base.
The evolution
The opening is loud and green. Thyme leads with lavender underneath, a marine salt cutting across both, and mandarin brightening the edges. There is an almost wet-herbal quality to the first minutes, as if the greens have been steeped rather than dried. As the composition moves past its initial burst, the herbal core settles in. Sage and basil take over from the thyme, joined by a warm styrax and a flicker of lemongrass. The carnation gives it a clove-like spice that keeps things grounded. The saltiness from the opening doesn't disappear, it just gets quieter, woven into the herbs like background memory. Later in the wear, something shifts again. The base, which is doing something strange and deliberate, surfaces with bergamot and grapefruit reappearing, magnolia softening the edges, and a quiet pepper warmth underneath.
Cultural impact
Londa 1006 sits firmly in O'Driu's territory of the wearer who values scarcity and artistic intent over recognition. It is a fragrance that does not ask to be liked by everyone. Among those who gravitate to the brand's work, the numbered series carries weight, with the numbering itself functioning as part of how each piece is read. The animalic undertone and herbal saltiness make it polarizing, and that polarity is the point. There is a small, devoted audience that treats these releases as something closer to art objects than typical perfumery, and 1006 holds its place in that conversation.
