The beginning
Quasar Graffiti landed in 2020 as part of O Boticário's Quasar line, a men's collection built around movement, energy, and the kind of confidence that feels earned, not performed. The brief was simple: something fresh enough for the heat, but grounded enough to carry through the night. Gabriela Maldonado, the perfumer behind the formula, composed it with a Brazilian sensibility in mind, mixing the brightness of pineapple and bergamot with the earthy depth of patchouli and sandalwood. The result isn't a tropical cliché. It's a citrus aromatic that owes as much to cachaça and clove as it does to the beach.
The unusual note here is cachaça, Brazil's sugarcane spirit, used more as an aromatic concept than a literal pour. It bridges the fresh top and the spiced heart, lending a faint sweetness that reads as rum-adjacent without being boozy. Paired with cardamom and clove, it gives the fragrance an unexpected backbone. Most citrus aromatic compositions rely on lavender or neroli as the bridge between top and base. Quasar Graffiti skips those in favor of a spiced, almost boozy middle that makes the whole composition feel more grown-up than its pineapple opening suggests.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are sharp and bright. Bergamot and mint hit hard, almost bracing, layered with pineapple that reads more like freshly sliced fruit than a candy sweetness. The mint cools everything down, giving the opening a clean, almost shower-fresh quality before the warmth arrives. By the 30-minute mark, the cachaça and cardamom push through, and the fragrance shifts from cold to warm. Clove adds a dry, almost smoky edge that grounds the fruit. Geranium and lily of the valley soften the transition, adding a green, slightly floral hint without turning the composition soapy. The drydown, from about 2 hours in, settles into a close-to-skin blend of vanilla, amber, patchouli, and sandalwood. It's creamy, warm, faintly sweet. On fabric, the vanilla lingers into the next day, a soft ghost of the pineapple that started it all.
