The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Soul Nectar is a limited-edition collaboration between Mihan Aromatics and Melbourne design label Kip&Co, released in 2025. Lychee, mango, and mandarin open the composition in full, generous color. There's nothing shy about the top. Iris, jasmine, and tonka bean move through the middle, adding the kind of depth that keeps the fruit from feeling one-note. The base settles into amber, cedarwood, musk, sandalwood, and vanilla, and that's where the composition earns its name. The fruit is the invitation. The woods are what make you stay. This is nectar with a pulse, sweet, but grounded by everything underneath it.
What makes this composition work is the friction between its sweetness and its weight. Mango and lychee are the obvious draws, but the iris and tonka bean are doing real structural work, keeping the fruit from sliding into candy territory. The sandalwood and cedarwood in the base aren't an afterthought. They're the spine that holds everything upright as the top notes evaporate. A fruity floral that ends in wood and amber is rarer than it sounds, and the base earns its place through restraint rather than volume. Nothing here shouts.
The evolution
The opening minutes are almost entirely fruit. Lychee leads with its translucent sweetness, mango adds that ripe tropical weight, and mandarin cuts through with brightness. Then the shift begins. The jasmine arrives before the iris does, coming in soft and slightly creamy. The iris grounds the middle with its powdery, rooty coolness. Tonka bean bridges the floral heart into the base, pulling everything downward. As hours pass, the fruit fades. What's left is a warm, creamy blend of sandalwood, amber, and vanilla, with cedarwood keeping the edges clean. Musk settles in close to skin, and the whole composition softens rather than disappears. The transition feels deliberate, each phase handing off cleanly to the next. By the late drydown, the woods have taken full ownership, and the sweetness has become a memory inside them rather than a foreground statement.
Cultural impact
Soul Nectar arrived as part of Mihan Aromatics' 2025 collaboration with Kip&Co, a partnership that placed a perfumed object directly inside a design label's world. The collaboration itself is the cultural moment. Putting a fragrance inside Kip&Co's visual language means Soul Nectar lives across categories, as wearable, as object, as scent. The lychee-mango-mandarin opening is generous and immediate, the kind of top that reads on skin within seconds. The iris-to-sandalwood transition gives the composition its identity. It moves from bright fruit through powdery floral into creamy wood, and that arc is what people remember.
