The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Givenchy Parfums was founded in Paris in 1952 by Hubert de Givenchy, who dressed Audrey Hepburn and created L'Interdit for her in 1957. The house translates couture's contradiction, aristocratic elegance with audacious spirit, into olfactory statements. The original Irresistible carried roses with elegant restraint. This new Very Floral flanker doubles down on that signature, amplifying the florals and introducing a new opening that captures the house at its most confident. Four perfumers worked the brief: Fanny Bal, Anne Flipo, and Caroline Dumur, collaborating with IFF, to create the most floral Very Floral yet. They took the original's romantic rose character and built something richer, more layered, and more modern.

The note philosophy centers on amplified rose-forward character, with coconut water and blackcurrant creating unexpected freshness in the opening while iris tingitana concrete and orris root add powdery sophistication to the heart. Pairing the coconut water with warm-weather occasions lets the aquatic freshness shine.
The evolution
The opening signals confidence. Bergamot, blackcurrant, and coconut water arrive together, creating a bright, juicy burst that immediately reads contemporary. The coconut water catches some by surprise, but it works within the structure, adding an aquatic freshness that elevates the whole composition without diluting it. The heart amplifies what makes the original distinctive. Rose and jasmine lead with ylang-ylang adding creamy warmth. Iris tingitana concrete and orris root bring powdery violet elegance that deepens the florals, giving the heart genuine sophistication beyond standard rose-forward fragrances. The dry down completes the arc. Ambergris and cedarwood provide warm, sensual grounding. Ambrette seed and ambrettolide form a clean, skin-like musk. A solar note captures the lingering warmth of late afternoon light. This is the longest-lasting part, present for hours with smooth warmth.
Cultural impact
The Very Floral flank of the Irresistible line positions this 2024 release at the feminine, rose-forward end of Givenchy's fragrance portfolio. It's for a wearer who wants the house's signature elegance with a focus on rich florals. The coconut water opening is the contemporary move, an ingredient that signals modern perfumery while maintaining classic structure. Among those who appreciate a rose-forward fragrance with warm musky undertones, this release stands out for its lush floral heart.
