The beginning
Fearless by Gina Liano arrived in 2016 as the second foray into the fragrance world for the television personality, created in partnership with Australian fragrance house Bondi Perfume Co. The brief was personal: a scent that captured the daring, multifaceted personality of Liano herself. Beverley Bayne, the perfumer, was tapped to translate that sensibility into something wearable. The result was a floral composition aimed at the woman who commands a room without asking for permission. Named Fearless, the fragrance sits as a bold statement of intent from a public figure known for holding her own in any setting she walks into.
What makes the composition structurally interesting is the tension between a bright citrus opening and a powdery, almost vintage iris-vanilla base. Bergamot, grapefruit, and orange give the first impressions a sharp, sparkling energy, but the real architecture sits underneath. Rose, jasmine, and lily of the valley form a layered floral heart that bridges the two halves. Then iris and amber take over, pushing the scent into that soft, sophisticated territory that reads refined rather than sweet.
The evolution
On skin, the opening arrives sharp and almost fizzy, bergamot and grapefruit slicing through with that just-peeled edge, while orange softens the corners. That citrus phase announces itself loudly before the florals arrive. Rose comes first, not the jammy kind but a fresher, cooler version, then jasmine folds in with its warmth and lily of the valley adds a cool, watery sweetness. The heart is where most people will spend the longest portion of the wear, the florals blooming into a full bouquet that feels generous and present. After the heart settles, the iris makes its move.
