The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The name says everything. In 2004, Gabriela Sabatini, Argentine tennis champion, global icon, wanted to bottle something specific: the Latino temperament she grew up surrounded by. Passion and spontaneity. Expressiveness and earned confidence. Francis Deleamont built the composition around a simple idea, a woman who knows what she wants and doesn't apologize for it. Fresh and fruity at first, yes. But underneath, warmth that lasts. This is not a scent that fades when things get interesting.
The white floral heart is where Temperamento earns its keep. Peony, jasmine, and lily of the valley create a bouquet that's feminine without being fragile, the kind of thing that holds its shape in heat. What lifts it above standard floral fare is the base: sandalwood and vanilla working together to ground the brightness in something warm and almost creamy. The melon opening can read synthetic to some noses, that's the tradeoff for that juicy, sun-drenched quality. But the sandalwood rescue is real. It takes whatever excess the top notes bring and turns it into something wearable all day.
The evolution
It opens sharp, bergamot cutting through, melon adding sweetness that could tip into candy if the jasmine didn't arrive to steady things. Within twenty minutes, the citrus recedes and the white florals take over. This is the heart phase most people will remember: soft, round, a little powdery in the best way. The drydown is where sandalwood earns its place. Vanilla stays close to the skin, amber adds warmth without heaviness, and musk keeps everything intimate. On most skin types, expect 6-8 hours. It lingers on fabric longer than it announces in the air.
Cultural impact
Temperamento found its audience among women in their twenties and thirties who wanted something bright and confident without being aggressive. The melon note is polarizing, some find it irresistibly sunny, others find it leans synthetic. That debate is the fragrance's quiet legacy: it provokes a reaction, which is more than most fruity florals achieve.
