The beginning
Clean introduced Reserve Sueded Oud in 2016 under perfumer Claude Dir. Oud carries weight in fragrance culture: expensive, complex, smoky. Instead of taking the traditional aggressive approach, Clean softened it. They wrapped the dark wood in florals, creating an unexpected delicacy. They anchored everything in suede, that worn, buttery material that smells like comfort rather than power. The result is a fragrance that explores depth without demanding space.
What makes Sueded Oud interesting is the tension between its materials. Suede is soft by nature, leather that's been broken in, with none of the sharpness of a new hide. Oud brings resinous, almost medicinal depth. Together, they create something that feels warm and textured rather than heavy. The florals, night-blooming jasmine, honeysuckle, white magnolia, keep the composition from tipping into darkness. They're the lightness in the name. The praline in the base adds a hint of sweetness that rounds the edges without making the fragrance sweet. The evolution
