The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Calvin Klein's Eternity line has always traded in romance, and 2015's Eternity Now was the franchise's attempt to catch up with a generation raised on lighter, fresher florals. Twenty-seven years after the original Eternity, Ilias Ermenidis composed the formula and Ann Gottlieb contributed to its development. The resulting scent leans into sparkling, addictive territory with a clarity that feels of its moment. The campaign, shot by Cass Bird, paired real-life couple Jasmine Tookes and Tobias Sorensen, a shift from earlier Eternity campaigns that relied on posed romance. The Jasmine and Tobias pairing, photographed in natural light with an unstyled intimacy, brought something documentary to the brand's usually polished imagery.
The composition opens frozen, almost confectionary. Quince sorbet and litchi arrive chilled, their sweetness tempered by a cold, crystalline lift that reads less like ripe fruit and more like fruit turned to ice. Within minutes the frost begins to thaw as a neroli and peony heart unfolds, smelling like white petals catching afternoon heat. The florals are airy and diaphanous, never dense or indolic, and they bridge the bright, almost edible opening into something more grounded.
The evolution
The first ten minutes belong entirely to the fruit. Quince sorbet, sharp and chilled, with litchi's dewy sweetness sitting just behind it, reads almost like a frozen dessert melting on warm skin. The opening has a crystalline, almost edible quality that pulls you in immediately. As the composition develops, the fruit softens and the heart takes over. Peony opens up first, rounded and slightly watery, then peach blossom arrives with a fuzzy, skin-warm quality that feels closer than the opening suggested. Neroli threads through both, adding a green-citrus lift that keeps the florals from turning powdery or old-fashioned. Later in the wear, the drydown settles into cashmere wood and musk, a soft, second-skin warmth where ambroxan functions as the dominant voice.
Cultural impact
Eternity Now was released in 2015 as a flanker to the long-established Eternity line, and it arrived with a noticeably different energy than its predecessors. Where the original Eternity and its early flankers leaned into denser, more traditional romantic territory, this version tilted toward a lighter, fresher register that suited the floral trends of the mid-2010s. The campaign, shot by Cass Bird and pairing Jasmine Tookes and Tobias Sorensen as a real couple rather than models in posed romance, brought a documentary intimacy to the brand's usually polished imagery.
