Why it exists.
The beginning
The Beyond collection exists because Bentley wanted to explore what happened when the brand's materials, leather, wood, warmth, moved off the dashboard and onto skin. Mellow Heliotrope takes its name from the heliotrope flower, a perfumery staple cherished for its soft, almond-like warmth and powdery presence. Karine Dubreuil-Sereni built the fragrance around that warmth, pairing blackcurrant's tart brightness with heliotrope's creamy, slightly cherry-tinged softness. Vanilla and praline anchor the composition, sweet, edible, and intimate. Released in 2020, Mellow Heliotrope sits in the Beyond collection as Bentley's answer to the question: what does a luxury house smell like when it goes soft?
The note structure tells its own story. Bright, fruity top notes give way to a heart of raspberry and pink pepper, a combination that adds soft spice without sharpness. The real architecture lives in the base: heliotrope's powdery floral character, vanilla's warmth, praline's sweetness, and ambrette's clean musk. Ambrette, derived from musk mallow seeds, provides a natural, skin-like warmth that bridges the gap between the fruity heart and the powdery drydown. It's a composition that builds a smooth arc rather than a jarring transition.

The opening hits bright and tart, blackcurrant and mandarin orange bursting with fruity energy, gardenia's creamy white floral presence keeping things grounded. Pink pepper arrives quietly, adding a soft spice that tempers the sweetness. The heart phase introduces raspberry's gentle tartness and elemi's warm resin, shifting the character from fruity to floral-spiced. Then heliotrope takes over. The powdery softness blooms across the skin, violet leaf lending a quiet green undertone beneath. Vanilla and praline anchor everything, warm, sweet, and close. The drydown is intimate by design. Sillage stays moderate but longevity stretches past six hours on most skin, making this a fragrance that announces itself quietly and leaves an impression that lasts.
