The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Classique Blue is an aromatic fougere built around marine freshness and mint, grounded by lavender, frankincense, sandalwood, and cedarwood. Bergamot adds brightness to the opening, while the marine notes lend a cool, open-air impression. Lavender softens the composition with its clean, aromatic character, and frankincense introduces a measured resinous warmth. Sandalwood and cedarwood form a steady woody base, giving the fragrance enough structure to move comfortably through the day. As the brighter opening notes recede, the composition settles into a balanced blend of cool, aromatic, and woody notes. It's an uncomplicated scent that can feel equally at home in the morning and later in the evening, with the marine character remaining as a subtle undertone beneath the warmer materials.
The interesting move is how frankincense appears twice. It anchors the heart alongside lavender and geranium, then settles into the base alongside sandalwood and cedarwood. That repeated presence gives the composition a quiet backbone and connects its aromatic heart to the warmer foundation. Mint and bergamot provide the brightness, while marine notes add an open-air feeling, but the frankincense keeps the cooler material grounded. As the fragrance develops, lavender takes a more prominent role in the middle stage, giving the fougere its aromatic spine.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are all atmosphere. Mint leads with a clean, almost tooth-paste bite, then bergamot rounds it and marine notes spread a thin salt-cool over everything. The lavender and frankincense step in around the 15-minute mark, but they arrive soft, herded by the geranium's slight green metallic edge. By the 30-minute point, the top has mostly cleared and the heart is fully present, warm and resinous but still wearing that clean surface. From here it drifts downward. The sandalwood and cedarwood build in the background, the second dose of frankincense catches behind the ears and on the wrists, and the musky base wraps everything into a low, skin-close warmth. The marine top doesn't vanish so much as fade into the wood, giving the later stages a cool undertone you only notice when you move.
Cultural impact
Classique Blue reads as an aromatic fougere centered on marine notes, mint, lavender, frankincense, sandalwood, and cedarwood. Its bright opening gives way to a resinous heart and a warm woody base, creating a composition that can shift comfortably from daytime freshness to a more subdued evening presence. The result is a fragrance defined by its note structure and balanced wear rather than any claim about a wider market trend.
