The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Azzaro was founded in Paris in 1967 by designer Loris Azzaro, who brought Sicilian-Tunisian Mediterranean sensibility to couture. The house built its identity on bold, charismatic fragrances designed to be noticed, evening wear for the skin, not the background. Shyamala Maisondieu crafted The Most Wanted Parfum with a clear directive: produce a concentrated extrait that matches the original flanker in intensity while adding depth through increased richness. The chosen notes reflect this ambition, each one selected to project with authority and last through an evening.
The note selection in The Most Wanted Parfum follows a logic of progression: Red Ginger provides initial impact and an unexpected fruity nuance, Woody Notes bridge the gap between opening and base by adding structure, and Bourbon Vanilla delivers the final warmth that makes the fragrance memorable. The pairing of ginger and vanilla is deliberate, the spicy-cool quality of the ginger tempering the sweet warmth of the vanilla rather than clashing with it. The result is a fragrance that moves from intensity to comfort without losing identity.
The evolution
The Most Wanted Parfum begins with Red Ginger, a note that immediately signals intent. The ginger does not ease in gently; it arrives with sharp, spicy conviction and a faint red berry undertone that differentiates it from culinary ginger. Over the first hour, the ginger's brightness begins to fade as Woody Notes integrate into the composition, their dry texture providing contrast without cooling the fragrance. By the third hour, Bourbon Vanilla takes command, its sweet, warm richness enveloping the earlier notes and creating a smooth, lingering base that remains detectable for six to eight hours on skin.
Cultural impact
The Most Wanted Parfum is the 2022 evolution of Azzaro's Wanted collection, a line built on the premise that masculine fragrance should announce itself. The collection's cylinder bottle, shaped like a revolver chamber, has become one of the most recognizable flacon designs in contemporary perfumery. Jon Kortajarena's continued presence as the campaign face reinforces the line's identity: confident, desirable, unapologetic.
