    Master Perfumer

    Roxanne Kirkpatrick

Roxanne Kirkpatrick brings an athlete's discipline to the art of perfumery. A French-American who competed internationally in ice skating before pivoting to fragrance, she approached the Givaudan Perfumery School in France with the same commitment that had carried her across frozen rinks worldwide. That early realization—that training and commitment can move you toward any goal—shaped everything that followed. After graduating from Givaudan's prestigious program, she built her career within the company's New York and Paris studios, composing fragrances for major fashion houses. Her work spans Azzaro's The Most Wanted Parfum, Ralph Lauren's Ralph's Club New York, Marc Jacobs' Daisy Wild, and Carolina Herrera's Lucky Charm. Eighteen years with the Swiss fragrance giant positioned her as one of its most accomplished creators. She now forges a new path as founder of Sovereign Fragrance, bringing that same precision and vision to her own independent practice. A recent nomination for the New Luxury Awards and her presence at the Perfumery Congress in Barcelona confirm her standing in the industry. Roxanne approaches each fragrance as an alchemist might—transforming raw materials into something unexpected and alive.

    How Roxanne composes

Roxanne Kirkpatrick's style resists easy categorization. Her work for fashion houses reveals a versatility that moves comfortably between bold statement pieces and refined classics. She gravitates toward ingredients with narrative weight, materials chosen for what they contribute rather than what convention dictates. Her signature approach balances contrast and cohesion. She layers unexpected elements while maintaining an underlying harmony, creating fragrances that reveal new facets over time. Whether working on a high-impact designer launch or her own artisan compositions, she prioritizes depth and longevity. Her pieces tend to reward patience, unfolding gradually rather than announcing themselves all at once.

    Philosophy

    What drives Roxanne

Roxanne Kirkpatrick creates with intention and purpose. She views perfumery not as decoration but as a form of storytelling, where each ingredient carries weight and meaning. Her background as an international athlete taught her that mastery comes through repetition and refinement, and she brings that same patience to her compositions. She describes herself as both conjuror and explorer, someone who trusts the creative process while remaining deeply curious about materials and their possibilities. Her work emerges from a balance between trained technique and genuine discovery, never satisfied with the expected path. Roxanne builds fragrances that feel necessary rather than merely fashionable, pieces that linger because they have something to say.
