The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Taj (Green) arrived in 2024 from Athoor Al Alam, a Dubai-based fragrance house founded in 2013. No named perfumer or detailed creative brief is available, so the clearest place to begin is the composition itself. Bergamot and citruses give the opening a polished gleam, while pineapple and ginger push it in a more expressive direction. The heart then broadens that brightness into amber, plum, rose, and saffron, a combination that feels festive without becoming ceremonial. It is a modern Arabic-leaning release built around the brand's broader interest in making regional scent structures accessible and unisex.
The interesting part is the balance between fruit and structure. Pineapple supplies a playful, juicy accent, but ginger, saffron, and vetiver keep the sweetness in check. Plum adds a darker register beside rose and amber, while sandalwood and musk in the base make the composition feel more grounded. That contrast gives Taj (Green) its character: citrus-bright at first, then warmer, spicier, and more composed as it settles. It doesn't need a grand origin story to work. The note arrangement does plenty of talking.
The evolution
Taj (Green) begins with a clean lift of bergamot and citruses, immediately joined by pineapple's bright fruit and ginger's dry warmth. That opening feels energetic and polished, almost sunlit, before the heart settles in with plum, rose, saffron, and amber. The middle is where the fragrance becomes more distinctive, shifting from crisp fruit toward a richer, gently spiced sweetness. As the brighter notes recede, ambergris, sandalwood, vetiver, and musk provide a darker woody foundation. The final impression is less citrus splash than warm skin, dry grass, and soft fruit lingering close to the wearer. With moderate performance, expect the composition to move through its main arc across roughly 4 to 6 hours.
Cultural impact
Athoor Al Alam's position is clear: regional fragrance tradition, made approachable and unisex rather than reserved for formal or narrowly gendered dressing. Taj (Green) fits that outlook through a familiar contrast of citrus, fruit, spice, amber, and wood. It suits the person who wants Arabic-leaning perfumery to feel easy, bright, and compatible with everyday life.
