The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
October 10th belongs to Anfasic's calendar series, a collection where each fragrance captures a specific date worth bottling. The series treats individual moments as compositional starting points, with the calendar conceit giving each release a fixed identity tied to its name. October 10th takes that conceit and leans into the season: warm enough for oud and patchouli to feel grounded, cool enough for apple and bergamot to still cut through. The apple in the opening reads crisp and just-picked rather than candied, while the bergamot keeps the brightness from tipping into syrup. The fruit-topped structure suggests a day in early autumn, when the harvest is still on the table but the air has started to turn cooler at the edges.
What makes this composition interesting is the negotiation between its halves. The top trio, apple, bergamot, lime, sets up a bright, almost cocktail-like opening that has no business sitting above a base of oud, patchouli, sandalwood and vanilla. The floral heart, jasmine, lily, rose and violet, acts as the bridge that makes the transition believable rather than jarring. Anfasic's bet is that fruit and agarwood can share a composition if the florals do the translating.
The evolution
The first 20 minutes belong entirely to the top. Apple is the loudest voice, green and slightly sharp, with bergamot and lime giving it citrus edges that feel almost carbonated. The lime keeps the brightness from flattening out, adding a tartness that makes the apple feel fresh rather than cooked. Then the florals arrive, and this is where the composition makes its real statement. Jasmine brings warmth, lily adds a soapy fullness, rose gives it depth and violet pulls everything into a slightly powdery space. The heart lasts longer than you'd expect, stretching out over a considerable stretch where none of the individual flowers dominate but together they reshape the entire feel of the scent. By the 3-hour mark, the woods and resins have taken over. Oud is present but not aggressive, more of a dark hum than a statement, settling into a low woody register rather than a smoky one.
Cultural impact
October 10th sits within Anfasic's calendar collection, a series that treats specific dates as creative prompts. The composition itself works in two distinct registers that don't usually share space in a single bottle, pairing a fruit-led opening with a base built around oud, patchouli and sandalwood. The result is a scent that offers immediate brightness on first spray without losing its deeper materials underneath.
