The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Essences collection marks Amouage's first new bottle design in 15 years. Each fragrance represents a pinnacle of olfactory artisanship. Line 618, created by perfumer Nathalie Lorson and released in 2026, embodies the house's philosophy of creative freedom without compromise. Perfumers compose without concern for cost or mass-market trends. The result is true works of art, rich in narrative and emotional depth. Line 618 is exactly that: a fragrant argument for the uncommon.
What makes Line 618 unusual is the lactonic-milky accord paired with Omani frankincense. That smoky-creamy tension is rare in perfumery. The tropical fruits amplify the lactonic qualities while black pepper provides unexpected contrast. The leathery-woody base grounds everything in earthy depth. These opposing forces, sweet and smoky, soft and leathery, warm and aromatic, demonstrate Lorson's mastery of balance.
The evolution
The opening hits sharp and confrontational. Black pepper dominates, with pineapple, peach, and plum appearing briefly before the real transformation begins. The heart unfolds as powdery pineapple and pine lasting a couple of hours, suede-like leather drifting in the background as a supporting element. The drydown is where Line 618 reveals its depth. Creamy frankincense takes over, familiar to Amouage wearers, lingering intimately for hours. On most skin, expect 5-6 hours of wear with meditative projection that doesn't fill a room but stays close.
Cultural impact
Line 618 continues Amouage's tradition of unapologetic luxury. An opulent, long-lasting scent that commands presence without compromise. The combination of lactonic creaminess, tropical fruits, and resinous frankincense creates something both familiar and unexpected from the house. Appeals to those seeking something potent and distinctive.
