The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Some moments don't get engineered. They ambush you. Serendipity, released in 2023 by Adscenture, takes its cue from that exact jolt of unplanned connection, the instant two paths cross and something shifts in the air. The name isn't decorative. It's the thesis. Each composition bears the house's own tagline, It's your ADSCENTURE, and this particular one charts territory somewhere between serendipitous encounter and quiet surrender. Two souls meeting, as the house describes it, finding solace in each other's arms. There's something almost conspiratorial about the way the scent seems to wink at you from the bottle, promising nothing and delivering everything in a single breath.
Cardamom does the opening work here, and it's the note that earns the title. Something brighter than expected, almost electric, that crackles against lavender's cool calm and refuses to behave like a typical spice accord. The contrast runs through the whole composition: citrus brightness against amber warmth, clove's edge against tonka's rounded comfort, each element pushing back against the next rather than blending politely.
The evolution
The first five minutes are where Serendipity earns its name. Cardamom and citrus lead, but that lavender underneath refuses to stay polite, pulling the whole opening into something cooler, slightly translucent. Around the 10-minute mark, clove and saffron arrive together, and the scent pivots into proper spice territory. The cedarwood in the heart gives it structure, a backbone that keeps the warmth from going formless. By the 30-minute mark, you're in the drydown: tonka and vanilla bloom slowly, sandalwood smooths everything out, and amber wraps it all in a low, golden hum. It settles close rather than projecting wide. The longevity stretches across a full afternoon without much fuss. What lingers longest is the tonka-amber-sandalwood blend, warm, slightly powdery, the kind of scent that follows you into a room rather than announcing you've arrived.
Cultural impact
Serendipity sits within a catalogue that ranges from the citrus-forward Onward to Seville to the more experimental Cosmic Purple, with each release staking out its own corner of the scent spectrum. In community voting on Fragrantica, the fragrance registers strongly for cooler-weather wear, drawing its highest marks from those reaching for it during autumn, though warmer months pull enough interest to suggest the composition translates beyond the obvious season.
