The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
When Tristan Badard set out to map a new coastline for Adscenture in 2023, he imagined a scent that could capture the instant thrill of a horizon where land meets sea. Drawing on the house's love of travel-inspired narratives, he blended bright bergamot with the unexpected sweetness of mango and the clean elegance of magnolia to create an opening that felt like first light over water. The perfumer understood that the most interesting coastlines are never just one thing, rocky shores have wildflowers, sandy beaches have driftwood. This duality informed every decision in the composition.
Badard selected mango for its ability to bridge fruit and florals without tipping into sweetness overload. The note acts as a transitional element, connecting bergamot's citrus spark to jasmine and rose's floral body. Aquatic notes were chosen deliberately for their transparency, the perfumer wanted the heart to feel like looking through sea glass rather than swimming through it. At the base, cedarwood and sandalwood were paired for their complementary textures: one dry, one creamy. Tonka bean rounds the combination with subtle sweetness, preventing the woods from becoming austere.
The evolution
The fragrance begins where all great journeys do, with arrival. Bergamot hits first, sharp and immediate, before magnolia softens the citrus into something more graceful. Mango arrives as the surprise: not loud or candy-like, but a quiet tropical undertone that suggests warmth without heat. Within the heart, jasmine and rose form a classic floral partnership that might feel familiar until aquatic notes lift the composition skyward, adding a transparent, almost delicate quality. The final movement brings the shore to land: cedarwood's dry warmth, sandalwood's creamy presence, and tonka bean's gentle sweetness settling into skin like the memory of salt air.
Cultural impact
Since its 2023 launch, Holographic has resonated with a generation that values both sustainability and sensory adventure. The fragrance’s bright bergamot‑mango opening evokes tropical mornings, while the marine‑floral heart recalls coastal getaways, making it a soundtrack for beach‑side memories. Social media users have shared sunrise‑lit photos of the bottle, linking the scent to moments of optimism and renewal. In niche forums, collectors note its ability to bridge classic citrus‑fruit compositions with modern marine accords, influencing subsequent releases that aim for a similar balance of freshness and depth.
