The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Arc 2010 entered the world as a bridge fragrance, conceived as a conceptual link between Zaharoff Pour Homme and what would eventually become Signature Pour Homme. The 2010 in the name refers to this bridging concept, not the year of release, which came considerably later. With production reportedly limited to around 500 bottles, the release carries an air of quiet exclusivity. It stands as a rare entry in the catalogue, shaped by deliberate restraint rather than wide distribution. The composition leans into a woody-aromatic identity, drawing on bergamot, blue lavender, anise, ginger, allspice, sandalwood, patchouli, oud, and myrrh to build its character. Only a small number of pieces exist, placing it among the harder-to-find offerings from the brand.
What gives Arc 2010 its distinctive pull is the tension running through the composition itself. Bergamot and blue lavender open bright and almost bracing, carrying a cool, herbal clarity that catches your attention right away. The anise, allspice, and ginger in the heart pull hard toward warmth and density, shifting the mood from crisp to enveloping. The base is anchored by woody notes, with patchouli, oud, and myrrh adding layers of resinous depth and earthy weight.
The evolution
The first hour belongs to the top. Calabrian bergamot and blue lavender arrive with a cool, herbal clarity, almost eucalyptus-adjacent, cut by the green pepperiness of bay leaf. It reads clean, like cold air through an open window, and it sets up a contrast the rest of the fragrance will exploit. Around the 30-minute mark, the anise and ginger break through. The anise brings that distinctive licorice sweetness, a note that smells ancient in the best way, while the ginger adds a clean heat that builds without ever crossing into sharp. Madagascar ylang-ylang softens the edges, and the allspice ties everything together with a warm, almost clove-like depth. By hour two, the top notes have faded into memory, and the base takes command. Sandalwood and patchouli create a creamy, earthy foundation.
Cultural impact
Arc 2010 occupies a distinctive position within the Zaharoff catalogue, described in some sources as a bridge between Zaharoff Pour Homme and the Signature line that came after. With only around 500 bottles produced and the original formula reportedly lost, the release carries a certain mystique. It has drawn attention from those who appreciate limited production runs and compositions that don't follow the easiest commercial path.
