The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Narjesi is a fragrance built by Asghar Adam Ali around the concept of rose concentration. Rather than featuring a single rose note, the composition explores how rose can be distilled and intensified until it becomes something entirely transformed. The fragrance draws from multiple rose varietals to create depth and complexity. What emerged is a scent that begins with concentrated rose richness and develops into something that feels intimately connected to the wearer, with each individual's skin chemistry influencing how the rose reveals itself over time.
The note structure is deliberately stacked. A dozen rose varietals, Taif, Turkish, Bulgarian, May Rose, alongside each other should create noise. Instead, they create a layered and multifaceted composition. What's notable is what supports that chorus: saffron for brightness, ginger for clean heat. The honey-vanilla combination in the heart provides warmth, but the vetiver and patchouli keep it grounded, preventing any overly sweet impression. The overall effect is one of balance, where each element has its place and purpose.
The evolution
The opening presents rose with saffron and bergamot, creating a rich impression that feels surprisingly airy. It's lush but not heavy, with a lightness that carries through the initial phase. As the fragrance develops, the oud arrives to settle and anchor everything that came before. By the second hour, the rose hasn't disappeared, it has simply become part of the architecture rather than the focal point. The drydown brings amber, leather, sandalwood, and a thread of incense, creating a warmth that lingers close to the skin. On fabric, the scent holds for an extended period.
Cultural impact
Narjesi presents a rose-forward structure that gives it a certain accessibility, while the deeper notes provide complexity. The combination creates a fragrance with both presence and nuance. The rose-forward composition makes it approachable, while the supporting notes add dimension and depth that reward closer attention.
