Asghar Adam Ali
Born in 1953 in Aden, Yemen, Asghar Adam Ali grew up in a household where perfume blended with daily life. His grandparents measured ambergris, his father distilled rose oil, and young Asghar mixed oils on a kitchen table. By his teens he mastered the balance of oud and spice, a skill that earned him apprenticeships in regional workshops. In the early 1980s he moved to Dubai, where he founded a modest lab that soon attracted royal commissions. He expanded the operation into a multimillion‑dirham enterprise, establishing Nabeel Perfumes as a global reference for Arabian luxury. The launch of the Shumukh collection in 2019 marked his first public breakthrough, followed by the acclaimed Spirit of Dubai. Today he guides a team of artisans, preserving heritage while shaping contemporary Arabian scent culture.

How Asghar composes
Asghar favors a layered architecture that begins with a bright, citrus or spice top, settles into a heart of floral or resin, and rests on a deep, woody base. He frequently employs raw oud, ambergris, and musk, pairing them with rare spices such as cardamom and nutmeg. He crafts bakhoor blends that release smoke‑kissed notes over time, allowing the perfume to evolve on the skin. He avoids synthetic shortcuts, preferring natural extracts that retain their nuanced aroma. His signatures include a seamless transition from bright opening to a lingering, resinous finish that invites repeated discovery.
Philosophy
What drives Asghar
Asghar treats each formula as a conversation between memory and material. He believes that a scent must honor its origin and speak to the present moment. He selects ingredients that carry cultural weight—agarwood, frankincense, saffron—and lets them reveal their character without over‑processing. He respects the rituals of bakhoor and oud, yet he refuses to let tradition dictate limits. For him, fragrance serves as a bridge, connecting personal stories to collective heritage. He measures success by the emotions a scent awakens, not by awards or sales figures.
