The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Wonderly belongs to the Desert Days collection, a name that already tells you what kind of scent to expect. Warmth, brightness, the feeling of light hours stretched long. The perfumer Andrea Casotti built Wonderly around a specific intention: a fragrance that opens rather than closes, that invites rather than overwhelms. The composition follows that thread from the first spray, starting with the cheerful sweetness of apricot and goji berry before widening into a heart of white flowers, then settling into a warm, powdery embrace. The apricot note brings a sun-ripened juiciness that feels almost tangible, while the goji berry adds a subtle, almost honeyed depth that keeps the opening from being merely sweet.
Wonderly leads with apricot and goji berry, a bright, fruity opening that feels almost playful, then layers in white florals as the heart, letting the powdery woods and warm resins arrive last as a quiet foundation. The apricot note brings a sun-ripened juiciness that feels almost tangible, while the goji berry adds a subtle, almost honeyed depth that keeps the opening from being merely sweet. From there, the white flowers, African neroli and jasmine sambac, provide emotional weight without heaviness.
The evolution
Wonderly opens bright. Apricot and goji berry arrive with a cheerful sweetness, immediately warm, immediately inviting. The fruit begins to recede, making room for the white flowers to take over. The heart unfolds gradually: almond blossom, African neroli, and jasmine sambac layer together into something creamy and elegant, not indolic or heavy. The jasmine sambac adds a tropical sweetness that keeps the florals from reading as soapy. The white flowers carry the composition, providing both emotional warmth and a sense of solidity. Then the base arrives. Bourbon vanilla and Mysore sandalwood create a creamy, comforting foundation, while Egyptian myrrh and Yemenite frankincense introduce a subtle resinous edge. The orris root and cosmone give the drydown its powdery signature, a soft, warm finish that stays close to the skin.
Cultural impact
Wonderly occupies an interesting position within the niche fragrance landscape. The fragrance world often sees houses specializing in specific styles, and The House of Oud has long been associated with rich, resinous compositions. Wonderly represents a departure from this norm, offering a brighter, more accessible interpretation that appeals to those seeking something different. The fragrance opens with a cheerful burst of apricot and goji berry, creating an immediately inviting impression. The heart of white florals adds elegance without heaviness, while the warm, powdery base provides a comforting finish.
