The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Summer Honey landed in 2026 from the desk of Mahsam Raza, a perfumer whose work for The Dua Brand tends to chase one feeling and run with it. The brief here was simple, at least on paper: build a fragrance around Spanish honey and let everything else orbit. Raza pulled in apricot jam and blackcurrant to push the fruit forward before the floral heart takes over, then anchored the whole composition in benzoin, vanilla, and cedarwood so the sweetness never floats off without structure. The opening is dense and almost chewy, the apricot jam giving the honey a jammy sheen while the blackcurrant threads in a darker, more tart edge that keeps things from turning syrupy on skin.
Spanish honey is doing something different here than it does in most compositions. Paired with davana, the honey takes on a dimension that's harder to pin down with familiar gourmand references. That single pairing is what keeps Summer Honey from collapsing into simple bakery territory. The davana lifts the sweetness out of the pastry case and into something with a pulse, adding a herbaceous, slightly fruity complexity that keeps the nose working.
The evolution
Summer Honey opens with the sticky sweetness of apricot jam layered against bright bergamot and the tart pop of blackcurrant, a fruit-forward burst that reads like the first bite of a summer preserve. As the hours pass, the fruit softens and the heart unfolds: davana brings a boozy herbal edge, while honeysuckle, jasmine, and rose lend a creamy floral lift. Night-blooming jasmine adds a subtle green shimmer before the base settles in. The drydown reveals Spanish honey deepened by benzoin and vanilla, with cedarwood anchoring the composition into a warm, golden close that lingers for hours.
Cultural impact
Summer Honey puts honey where it belongs as the headline rather than the accent, and the floral-gourmand structure gives the sweetness a wearability that invites daily use. It wears like the scent of someone who picked their fragrance for how it makes them feel, not how it reads on a shelf. The composition leans into its sweetness without hedging, and that confidence gives it a kind of generosity on skin that some more guarded fragrances lack. You smell it and you understand immediately what it's about, and the subsequent hours confirm that initial impression without watering it down.
