The beginning
Hidden Gardens joined The Dua Brand's Dua Designer Line in 2025, a collection that reimagines high-end compositions for a wider audience. Hidden Gardens is the house's take on Phlur's Father Figure, pulling the same cool, green mood into a vegan formulation that carries the DDL tag. It's the kind of project the house does best: a careful reconstruction that keeps the original's emotional blueprint intact. The cool, leafy character of the original gets carried over with surprising fidelity, from the way the fig reads on first spray to the slow, suede-like iris that settles into the base hours later. Even the quieter details hold up: that catty flash of blackcurrant bud, the soft aquatic hush of water lily, and the creamy warmth of sandalwood underneath everything.
The composition leans on a pairing of green fig and orris root. Fig brings the leafy, almost vegetal sweetness of a tree just past fruit. Orris brings a cool, powdery depth that gives the scent its soft, upholstered feel against skin. Surrounding that duo, blackcurrant bud adds a tart, catty brightness, water lily softens the edges, and bourbon vanilla in the base rounds everything without tipping into dessert territory. The sandalwood and patchouli do the heavy lifting underneath, giving the powdery iris something warm to land on.
The evolution

Bourbon vanilla warms the composition without going gourmand, and the sandalwood-patchouli pairing gives it a creamy, slightly earthy weight. The musk underneath keeps everything skin-close.
