The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Scarlet Warrior landed in 2018 from Mahsam Raza at The Dua Brand. An aromatic woody built on contrast, the house calls it fire fusing with ice. Pink pepper and citrus open sharp, but the story is the heart. Bulgarian rose is unexpected in this register, and pairing it with peppermint creates a tension that shouldn't work. It does. The drydown of Indian sandalwood and Haitian vetiver holds for hours, making this a fragrance that earns its name.
What makes Scarlet Warrior unusual is that mint-forward heart. Peppermint usually appears as a cooling agent in the base, a brief relief after the opening. Here it stakes out territory alongside Bulgarian rose, warm floral, cool herb, in a combination that creates the fragrance's defining tension. The Provençal lavender absolute and Indian patchouli in the base don't fight the mint; they give it somewhere to land. Vetiver adds a creamy, slightly smoky depth that extends the wear. The result is a composition that reads as both fresh and warm, depending on where you are in the wear.
The evolution
The opening arrives with purpose. Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian lemon give it a citrus brightness that feels immediate, then pink pepper adds a spicy edge that cuts sideways rather than up. The transition to the heart happens fast, Bulgarian rose appears with a softness that reads almost dusty against the pepper, then the peppermint arrives and takes over. The cooling-warm contrast is immediate and deliberate. This is where the fragrance earns its name. The drydown spreads across the next several hours. Patchouli anchors it with an earthy sweetness that doesn't lean dirty. Sandalwood adds cream. The vetiver and lavender absolute blend into something that stays close to the skin but extends further than expected. On fabric, the patchouli holds into the next day.
Cultural impact
Scarlet Warrior sits in a specific niche: aromatic woody scents for men who want presence without complexity. Launched in 2018, it draws from the Creed Viking playbook but has carved its own identity through that mint-forward heart. The strong opening and extended drydown make it a practical choice for all-day wear, while the peppermint note keeps it from reading as a typical masculine fougere. It's the fragrance equivalent of walking in with intent.
