The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Breakfast Cereal launched in 2024 from The Dua Brand as part of the Inspired Expression line, a collection geared toward compositions that lean into comfort over complication. Perfumer Mahsam Raza built the fragrance around a simple, direct concept: breakfast, in a bottle, no apologies. The name doesn't try to be clever or abstract. It announces exactly what it's going for, and then delivers on that promise. What sits underneath that premise is a carefully constructed gourmand composition, one that treats the idea of a morning bowl with more seriousness than the concept suggests. The Inspired Expression line is where the brand gathers these kinds of compositions, and Breakfast Cereal fits the brief cleanly.
What makes this one work isn't the sweetness itself. Plenty of fragrances go sweet. It's the way the notes interact. Cereal, hazelnut, and white chocolate in the opening don't sit separately. They blur into one creamy, nutty haze that reads more like texture than a list. Then cardamom drops in and suddenly there's friction, a little buzz of spice that keeps the whole thing from sliding into cloying. Milk and honey in the heart push that creaminess further, while cherry blossom and red fruits stop it from feeling too heavy.
The evolution
The opening is the loudest part. White chocolate and hazelnut dominate, almost confectionery, almost edible in their richness. The milk note swells in early and softens the edges, while the cereal and biscuit settle underneath like a crumbled afterthought that grounds the sweetness. Cardamom arrives to add a warm hum behind all that cream, a subtle buzz of spice that keeps the nose coming back for another pass. The cherry blossom and red fruits surface in the middle stretch as a quick flash of brightness, a brief lift that keeps the composition from sitting too heavily in one place. Then the drydown takes over and refuses to leave. Patchouli, amber, vanilla. That trio holds close to skin for an extended wear, holding the warmth of the opening while stripping away some of the initial sugar. What surprises people is how the sweetness changes character over the course of the wear.
Cultural impact
Breakfast Cereal sits firmly within the gourmand category, a family that has grown into one of the more visible directions in modern fragrance. It's the kind of scent people reach for when they want something familiar, a little playful, and unapologetically sweet. The composition leans into that comfort without hedging, and the result is a fragrance that knows its audience and delivers for them. Gourmand fans tend to want their sugar upfront, their texture readable, and their drydown warm enough to live in. This one checks all three boxes.
