The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Spiritum's Numerus collection maps archetypal territories through scent. Number eleven became the starting point for Psychic Vibes. Perfumer Philippe Paparella-Paris built the composition around an unusual pairing: sweet green pear and warm saffron, anchored by violet leaf and the resinous lift of frankincense. The result is a fragrance that feels simultaneously grounded and elevated, like tuning into a frequency others might miss. The name carries intentional weight. Psychic Vibes isn't about prediction or mysticism in the literal sense. It's about intuition as a practice, the way certain scents, moments, or people register before you can explain why.
What makes Psychic Vibes work is the tension between its opening and its foundation. The top tier is deceptively accessible: bergamot, pear, saffron, violet leaf. It reads almost playful, almost familiar. Then the structure deepens. Licorice and ginger add aromatic warmth to the heart, while jasmine brings a quiet floral weight that most spicy-aromatic compositions skip entirely. The base is where Spiritum earns its reputation. Cypriol and fir balsam bring an earthy, almost mineral quality that keeps patchouli and vanilla from becoming predictable. Myrrh bridges the heart and base, creating continuity rather than a sharp transition.
The evolution
The opening begins with bergamot and elemi, followed by the pear's sweetness and saffron's warmth. Violet leaf keeps things cool, a green counterpoint that prevents the top from reading as purely fruity. There's a crispness to the citrus that gives way to something rounder as the pear emerges, and the saffron threads through with a subtle spice that keeps the composition dynamic. The heart brings licorice and ginger, adding dimension without overwhelming. Jasmine arrives quietly, blending into the myrrh and cedar rather than asserting itself. The aromatic warmth builds throughout this phase, with sage adding an herbal quality that balances the sweeter elements. The composition settles into its middle register, warm and aromatic with saffron lingering beneath.
Cultural impact
The Numerus collection, with its thematic titles and numbered structure, appeals to wearers who appreciate the intersection of sweet-fruity accessibility and deeper, contemplative structure. The collection invites a different kind of attention to fragrance, one that considers how scent might speak to something beneath conscious thought. Rather than relying on heritage narrative or marketing scale, the house builds compositions that reward those who approach fragrance as something to be explored rather than simply enjoyed.
