The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Incanto line was established as a collection of bright, sun-drenched florals with a fruity edge. Incanto Lovely Flower arrived as a summer flanker, keeping the original's playful spirit while adding a softer, more romantic depth through peony and a warm benzoin-sandalwood base. The composition feels both immediate and lasting, opening with bright fruit before settling into florals. The interplay between the fruity top notes and the floral heart creates a fragrance that feels layered without being heavy. Benzoin provides a resinous warmth that grounds the peony, while sandalwood adds creaminess that lingers in the background.
The combination of woodland strawberry and red currant in the top is interesting, both are smaller, more acidic fruits than their tropical cousins. Where passion fruit screams summer vacation, strawberry and currant feel closer to home: a garden, a bramble, something picked rather than purchased. The strawberry maintains a natural freshness while the currant adds a tart brightness that prevents the opening from becoming overly sweet. The real work, though, happens in the base. Benzoin is a resin with a vanilla-adjacent warmth; sandalwood adds creaminess and longevity.
The evolution
The opening arrives fast, bergamot and red currant hit within seconds, tart and sparkling. The woodland strawberry follows, softer and more rounded. At first, the composition emphasizes bright fruit notes. Then the florals take over. Rose opens first, then peony joins, then jasmine underneath. The transition happens smoothly, without harsh shifts between the fruit and floral stages. The heart of the fragrance lasts for a significant portion of the wear. As time passes, the berries fade and the florals begin to soften. Sandalwood emerges gradually, adding creaminess and a faint woodiness to the composition. Benzoin contributes a warm, resinous quality that complements the sandalwood without being overly sweet. The overall effect is intimate and close to the skin, lingering in a gentle, powdery drydown.
Cultural impact
Incanto Lovely Flower sits comfortably within the fruity-floral category that defined women's fragrances through the early 2010s. The peony-red currant combination reflects the sensibilities of its time, when bright fruit notes paired with romantic florals dominated the market. This fragrance maintains that aesthetic without feeling redundant, offering a fresh take on familiar elements.
