Why it exists.
The beginning
Rêve de Hanami arrived in 2021, composed by Gabriela Chelariu for Rituals. Japanese cherry blossom sits at the heart of the composition, with supporting notes of pear and lychee in the opening, and a patchouli drydown that follows. The fragrance draws from the imagery of cherry blossoms without directly referencing their cultural context, instead focusing on the floral element as a central component around which the other notes are arranged. The pear and lychee provide brightness at the outset, while the patchouli in the base gives the composition a grounded finish.
The Japanese cherry blossom serves as the primary floral element in the heart phase of the composition.
