The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Accord No. 06 was composed by perfumer Ted Young-Ing as part of RAER Scents' ongoing series of botanical-led explorations. A white floral built from 100% botanical materials, it centers on two headlining ingredients: Indian tuberose absolute and Comorian ylang-ylang. These two florals share the stage as the composition's anchors, each carrying a natural indolic depth that gives the fragrance its raw, almost narcotic character. The tuberose brings its creamy, waxy richness with that earthy, slightly smoky undertone that sits just beneath the sweetness, while the ylang-ylang layers in its rubbery, banana-skin quality that keeps the whole thing from collapsing into something too clean.
Tuberose absolute carries a natural earthy, almost smoky facet that this composition leaves fully exposed. Rather than filtering it out, RAER Scents lets that complexity breathe, and the effect is striking. The ylang-ylang shares that same indolic depth but pulls in a different direction, adding a rubbery, banana-skin richness that gives the florals a fleshy, alive quality. The result feels closer to a living plant than to an abstracted floral accord. The Java vetiver and Indian sandalwood base keep the composition from flying into pure sweetness, anchoring everything in a smoky, rooty earth.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are almost aggressive. Grapefruit and lemon zest cut through the top, bright and sharp, giving way fast to pink and black pepper with galbanum's green bite. Rosemary adds an herbal coolness that frames the floral arrival with a lifted, aromatic edge. Then the heart lands fully. Indian tuberose absolute floods the space, creamy and thick, with jasmine sambac amplifying the indolic sweetness and orange blossom absolute lending a soapy, sun-warmed facet to the bouquet. Comorian ylang-ylang weaves underneath, adding that banana-skin rubbery quality that makes the whole composition feel alive, almost breathing on its own. The interaction between the two florals is where the fragrance finds its center of gravity. As the sharpness of the top notes recedes, Damask rose makes a brief, honeyed appearance before the base settles in.
Cultural impact
This is the fragrance that signals the wearer's comfort with intensity. Accord No. 06 doesn't hedge or dilute. It commits fully to the loud, raw character of its two white florals, presenting them without the usual softening filters. The tuberose and ylang-ylang are allowed to be indolic, fleshy, and unapologetically present. For the person who finds standard white florals too restrained, too gentle, too smoothed at the edges, this composition offers something more direct.
