Heritage
A house, in its own words
Raer Scents began in 2017 when Ted Rohn, a creative director who had lived and worked in London, Paris and New York, sought a perfume that could be both contemporary and rooted in natural tradition. Rohn’s background in fashion and design informed his desire to craft scents without synthetic additives, a stance that set the brand apart from many niche houses. The first public release arrived in 2019 with Accord No. 01: Nagarmotha, followed shortly by a second edition, Accord No. 02: Cade 2019 Edition. Those early releases established a pattern of seasonal “Accord” drops that explore a single botanical focus. In 2022 the house expanded its catalogue with multiple accords, including Angelica Root (Accord No. 09) and a Labdanum + Oak blend (Accord No. 08). The same year the brand introduced Raer 04 Cedar + Ginger, marking its first fully named fragrance beyond the numbered accords. 2024 saw the launch of Raer 01 Nagarmotha and Raer 09 Angelica Root, both positioned as flagship expressions of the house’s evolving language. The following year, 2025, Raer released 15WEST, a scent that references a specific geographic inspiration while maintaining the brand’s natural‑only policy. Throughout its development, Raer has maintained a small‑batch production model, allowing the team to source rare ingredients directly from growers in regions such as the Himalayas, the Mediterranean and West Africa. The brand’s growth has been documented on its Instagram feed, which now exceeds 6 000 followers, and on its official website, where each launch is accompanied by detailed ingredient stories. Raer’s trajectory reflects a steady accumulation of distinct olfactory statements, each anchored in a commitment to botanical purity and handcrafted quality. Raer Scents approaches perfumery as a dialogue between tradition and contemporary sensibility. The house believes that natural materials can convey complexity without resorting to synthetic shortcuts. Its creative vision rests on three pillars: respect for the source, clarity of composition, and sustainability. Respect for the source means working only with plants that can be harvested without harming ecosystems; the brand partners with small‑scale farms that practice regenerative agriculture. Clarity of composition drives the decision to spotlight a single botanical or a tightly knit duo, allowing the scent’s character to unfold without clutter. Sustainability informs every step, from selecting ingredients that are certified organic or wild‑crafted to using recyclable glass for bottles and avoiding preservatives that could compromise biodegradability. Raer’s statements on its website emphasize that each fragrance is meant to be experienced in the moment, encouraging wearers to notice how the scent evolves on skin over time. The brand also encourages transparency, publishing ingredient origins alongside each launch, which aligns with a broader industry movement toward traceable perfumery. By keeping the ingredient list short and the process visible, Raer invites consumers to form a personal connection with the plants that form each aroma.
