The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Isaac Hilton built Prisma Parfums as a digitally native house in 2023, launching ten fragrances in one year, each named for a gemstone. Amethyst was conceived as the collection's nocturnal note, named for the purple stone associated with intuition and the quiet hours. The official brief read: "Encapsulating Clubbing Tempo in Purple Amethyst." That phrase, clubbing tempo, tells you what this fragrance was designed to do. It wasn't born to smell polite.
The name Amethyst carries ancient weight: the stone was once worn as an amulet against intoxication, believed to keep the mind sharp and clear. Prisma Parfums borrowed that symbolism and inverted it. This is the amethyst for when clarity isn't the point, when the night is just beginning. The tension between sweetness and depth, between a fruity opening and a smoky-woody heart, mirrors the arc of a clubbing experience itself: bright at the entrance, deeper the longer you stay.
The evolution
The opening is sweet-fruity and lively, strawberry and pear against bergamot and limetta, with lavender keeping things grounded. The aromatic quality from lavender is the unexpected bridge: it keeps the sweetness from feeling juvenile while introducing a clean herbal quality that holds everything together. The heart complicates the picture. Pine and cedar rise against jasmine and magnolia, while incense adds a warm smoky edge that grounds the fruity opening instead of letting it float away. This is where the fragrance earns its name, the progression from bright to deeper feels genuinely nocturnal. The base settles into sandalwood and vanilla for warmth that lasts hours after the other notes have faded into a close drydown that stays close to the skin, ambroxan and musk creating a subtle skin presence that remains the next morning as well. Amethyst builds in layers that reveal themselves gradually, with each stage distinct yet coherent to the last.
Cultural impact
The fragrance has found its audience among those who want something with real presence, strong projection, all-day longevity, and a sweet-fruity opening that draws compliments before settling into something more complex. That unusual strawberry-lavender combination is the element people either love or question, which is exactly what a distinctive fragrance should do.
