The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Love in the Air, the 2025 Charity Edition from Bangkok's MITH, is a composition that rewards a slow first impression. Senior perfumer Carine Certain Boin built it with an old-school floral aldehyde vocabulary at its center, leaning into the genre's structural clarity rather than softening it into ambiguity. The aldehydes here are not background shimmer; they form the architecture of the scent, with the floral heart and woody base arranging themselves beneath that effervescent frame. MITH, the Bangkok-born house known for quietly ambitious perfumery rooted in Thai memories, approaches fragrance as something worn rather than performed, and Love in the Air carries that sensibility into every phase of its wear.
The aldehyde-citrus opening is the structural core of the fragrance. The aldehydes deliver a sharp, effervescent sparkle, while a powdery floral heart of iris, mimosa, and lily of the valley settles in beneath them, dense but translucent, anchored by rose and freesia for body. This white floral accord carries a couture-house weight, powdery and composed, without tipping into heaviness. Then the base closes with cedarwood and vanilla, creating a clean, woody-sweet finish that carries warmth without density.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes belong to the aldehydes. There's a soapy, almost metallic sparkle, brightened by an unlisted citrus shimmer that adds lift without defining itself. The aldehydes hold their shape through this opening, carrying a cool, clean brightness that announces the composition's intent without overwhelming the wearer. Around the thirty-minute mark the white florals step forward, powdery and cool, with mimosa bringing a fuzzy, honey-yellow warmth that fills out the heart of the fragrance. Lily of the valley adds green lift to the arrangement, and the aldehydes begin to soften as the florals take prominence. By hour two, cedarwood and amber have taken over the floor. The vanilla arrives last, woody-soft, lending a creamy sweetness without gourmand weight. The drydown sits close to skin, clean, faintly musky, polite without being quiet.
Cultural impact
Love in the Air arrives as a Charity Edition, which shapes how the fragrance sits in the broader conversation. Rather than reading as a straightforward commercial release, the charitable framing gives the composition a different kind of weight. The aldehydic floral vocabulary itself carries strong associations with vintage couture houses, and Love in the Air works within that lineage while bringing its own clarity to the genre.
