The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
MITH launched in Bangkok in 2015 with a clear idea: scent should echo warmth and memory rather than project status. The house builds perfumes that are meant to be worn, not performed, and Nude represents the purest expression of that belief. Perfumer Quentin Bisch was given a single directive: strip everything that does not belong. What remained is a fragrance built around the idea that the skin is the real canvas, and everything else is interference. MITH had spent years building toward this moment, exploring proximity and revelation through work like Mantra, Must Musk, and Blue Wood Fresh. Nude is the result of that exploration distilled to its most essential form.
The philosophy behind Nude is simple: the best version of a fragrance is the one that feels like it was already there. Bergamot opens with clarity because it does not need to announce itself. Peony and lily of the valley create a heart that is present without being insistent. The drydown of moss, vetiver, and tonka bean grounds the composition in something real, something that mirrors skin rather than masking it. MITH designed this fragrance to work with the body rather than against it. In practice, this means the notes blend and shift based on individual chemistry. The peach may read sweeter on one person, the moss deeper on another. Nude is not fixed; it is responsive.
The evolution
The opening of Nude establishes a bright, translucent clarity through bergamot and pear, softened by peach into something that feels immediate without being aggressive. This initial burst does not linger; it exists to set the stage. The heart takes over with lily of the valley and peony, florals chosen for their quiet authority rather than their volume. Violet leaf adds a subtle green dimension that prevents the heart from feeling overly powdery. As the florals begin to settle, the drydown introduces moss and vetiver, earthier notes that bring the composition back toward the physical. Tonka bean provides warmth without sweetness, and musk keeps everything skin-close. The arc from citrus fruit to soft floral to mineral earth is deliberate, each phase transitioning without sharp edges.
Cultural impact
NUDE joins a 2025 moment in perfumery where restraint is the statement. Unisex releases from independent houses have moved from niche curiosity to mainstream preference, and NUDE fits squarely in that shift, not because it follows a trend but because the philosophy was always there. MITH's clean aesthetic and soft visual identity align with what the fragrance actually does. Comparisons to Valaya and Musk Therapy are natural: all three share the clean fruity-floral-musk skeleton that reads as modern and universally wearable rather than belonging to any single demographic.
