The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
My Freedom arrived in 2024 from Mirada, a house with a modest catalogue and a clear point of view. The name carries no mythology, no exotic geography. It carries a stance. Freedom here isn't a place you travel to. It's the quality of someone who walks into a room already settled into herself. Mirada built the composition around a berry-forward opening that reads almost edible, then pulled it toward something woodier and more adult as the hours pass. The result is a fragrance that rewards patience, revealing new facets of itself across an entire evening rather than spending its best material in the first spray. It rewards someone unhurried, self-possessed, and quietly certain of her own atmosphere. This is a scent meant to be lived in, not performed.
What makes My Freedom worth a second look is the sheer density of its berry accord. Five fruits compete for attention in the opening, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, mandarin, and lemon, before the heart layers blackcurrant and sour cherry on top of jasmine and violet. Most berry-dominant fragrances stop there and call it done. This one doesn't. The base pulls in cashmeran, patchouli, oakmoss, tonka, vanilla, and a soft musk that gives the entire drydown a brushed-suede texture rather than the syrupy sweetness you'd expect from so much fruit up top.
The evolution
The opening minutes taste like a fruit market at the peak of summer. Strawberry and raspberry arrive almost together, followed quickly by the brighter citrus snap of mandarin and lemon. Blackberry sits underneath, darker and denser, giving the opening its weight. There's a candied quality here, but it's never cloying because the berry accord has enough acidity to keep it moving. As the wear progresses, the berries start sharing space. Jasmine threads in first, soft and creamy, then violet lends its powdery hush. Blackcurrant deepens the fruit profile while sour cherry adds its own character to the blend. Eventually, the heart has fully taken over and the opening fruits have receded into something warmer and rounder. The transition into drydown happens quietly. There's no dramatic shift, no sudden arrival of smoke or leather.
Cultural impact
My Freedom fits squarely into the berry-driven feminine category. Its opening reads as confident, with a fruity brightness that doesn't apologize for itself, while the drydown pulls toward something woodier and more grounded. Within Mirada's own lineup, it sits alongside other compositions under the Freedom name, including Freedom Wings. Its reception on fragrance platforms has been warm, with wearers noting the drydown's woody character as a particular strength.
