Why it exists.
The beginning
Humanitas emerged from Memoize London’s East London studio in 2019 as a fragrant ode to kindness. Drawing on the house’s narrative‑driven philosophy, the team set out to bottle the feeling of compassion, pairing exotic tropical fruits with gentle British florals and comforting woods. The name itself, Latin for “humanity,” anchors the scent in a universal story.
Choosing bitter orange, passion fruit and peach gives the opening a bright, almost tactile sweetness that feels like a sunrise over a garden. The heart leans on heliotrope, iris, lily, magnolia and rose, classic British blossoms rendered in a powdery veil, while the base of cashmere wood, musk, Indian sandalwood, amber, patchouli and sugar powder creates a warm, lingering embrace that feels both familiar and unexpected.
The evolution
At first spray, the citrus‑sharp orange zest snaps awake the senses, while juicy peach and tart passion fruit add a burst of tropical sugar that feels like biting into a ripe stone fruit. Within minutes the bouquet softens; heliotrope’s almond‑sweetness intertwines with iris’s dry elegance, lily’s fresh purity, magnolia’s creamy bloom and rose’s soft romance, forming a plush, powder‑filled heart. As the composition settles, the base emerges: cashmere wood drapes the skin like a soft shawl, musk adds an animalic whisper, Indian sandalwood supplies creamy depth, amber glows warm, patchouli grounds with earthy spice, and sugar powder leaves a lingering confectionary veil. The drydown persists for eight to ten hours, projecting a steady, confident sillage that stays close enough to be Intimate yet distinct enough to be remembered.
