The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The name says everything. Jannat, paradise, garden, sanctuary, in Arabic. Aliénor Massenet built this fragrance around that idea: an escape into something lush and green and unapologetically fresh. Released in 2008 as part of Memo Paris's Les Échappées collection, Jannat Baby was designed to translate the feeling of a perfect garden into something you could wear.
What makes it interesting is the structure. Bright citrus and aromatic herbs at the top, powdery florals in the heart, then a warm, almost comforting base. The alcohol-free format was an intentional choice, Memo Paris wanted something softer on the skin, more approachable for everyday wear. Less barrier between the wearer and the scent.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and clean. Bergamot, lemon, petitgrain, a citrus trio that announces itself clearly for the first fifteen minutes. Then the hand-off. The heart opens: neroli and frangipani together create something soft and full, powdery without being dusty. It doesn't shout. By hour three, the base notes take over. Clary sage adds an herbal clarity while tonka bean rounds everything into warmth. The powdery warmth doesn't disappear. It deepens. Settles close to the skin, intimate and comfortable. The liatris gives it an almost clean, dry finish that lingers for hours after.
Cultural impact
Part of Memo Paris's Les Échappées collection, Jannat Baby occupies a lighter corner of the house's range. While the brand is known for bold, transportive fragrances, leather, orientals, geographic adventures, this one leans into powdery-fresh territory. It's become an entry point for younger wearers discovering the house, offering Memo Paris's signature approach to storytelling in a more intimate, approachable format.
